Benefits of using basalt flour

Basalt meal contains a variety of minerals and trace elements in natural compositions and proportions, making it an eco-friendly source of essential nutrients that improve soil fertility. Research results indicate that the use of basalt meal helps reduce soil acidity, thereby neutralizing the harmful effects of aluminum and reactivating bacterial flora and earthworm populations, which tend to decline in acidic conditions.

It improves and protects the physical, chemical, structural, and biological properties of the soil. One of its key advantages is safety in use—due to the gradual release of minerals, there is no risk of over-application or improper nutrient proportions.

Basalt meal also serves as a sanitizing agent, preventing the spread of diseases and pests while increasing nutrient reserves for cultivated plants. It can be combined with fertilizers such as biohumus or manure.

One of the significant benefits of rock powders, especially basalt meal, is its ability to improve the soil’s capacity to retain water and nutrients. Additional advantages include its non-toxicity, unlimited shelf life, and resistance to leaching by groundwater.

Basalt meal modifies soil properties and can be used to adjust the granulometric composition of the soil. Mechanically, it consists primarily of fine dust fractions (ranging from 0.002 to 0.05 mm), which positively influence soil fertility and plant production.

It is beneficial for both heavy and light soils:

  • On heavy soils, it increases soil aggregation, improving structure.
  • On light, sandy soils poor in clay, it enhances water retention capacity, particularly in the humus layer.
